Belly Uptown permanently closes its downtown location after 10 years of business

OAKLAND, California – Belly Uptown recently announced that it had closed its downtown location for good. Its final day of operation took place on January 6 which surprisingly gained little media attention. The announcement of its shock closure was made on its Instagram page which thanked customers for their years of support.

Writing on Instagram, Belly Uptown wrote: ‘Thank you for all of your support for the past 10 years. We have met so many great people who became our friends and made memories that will last a lifetime. Saturday, January 6, 2024, will be our last day of service in downtown. Don’t worry, you can still get your Belly fix at our Rockridge location. Thank you Oakland and to another 10 delicious years!’

Despite its passionate announcement, the Mexican eatery failed to explain why they were closing which is presumed to be due to financial or personal reasons. Nonetheless, these reasons were not made public.

Located on San Pablo Avenue, Belly Uptown was a popular restaurant known for its diverse menu featuring a range of tasty burritos, burgers, salads, and sides. From the savory Cali Burrito to the flavorful Korean Hot Chicken Burrito, it was seen as one of the better Mexican eateries in the city. As of this moment, it is not known what will be replacing the establishment. However, its Rockridge location has been confirmed to be staying open.
