Coco + Hazel announces Tuckahoe shop closure next month

Richmond, VA – Yesterday, Coco + Hazel announced that they would be permanently closing their Tuckahoe shop toward the end of next month. This announcement was made on their Instagram page where they claimed it was too risky to keep open on a new 5-year lease with increased rent. In the same statement, Coco + Hazel also claimed they would be running their Bon Air location as usual.

Speaking on social media, the local coffee shop wrote: ‘To our beloved Tuckahoe community – It is with bittersweet feelings that we announce the upcoming closure of our Tuckahoe location, effective 2/25/24. Since Coco + Hazel was first started at this sweet little spot in 2019, the Tuckahoe community has been a true joy to serve. Although we are not the founders or original owners, we bought this business in September with the awareness that the post-COVID landscape had altered the sustainability of the current business model and that a new business model was absolutely critical to the overall success of the business.’

Over the years, Coco + Hazel has earned a reputation based on offering a variety of sweet treats and drinks, many of which are vegan, gluten-free, and made with organic, locally sourced ingredients.

Some of the popular menu items include vegan donuts, cookies, brownies, and ice cream, as well as smoothies, coffee, and tea. The donuts, in particular, are a fan favorite, with flavors like Peanut Butter Fudge, Chai Latte, and Matcha. The cookies are also quite popular, with flavors like Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate, while the brownies are rich and decadent, with varieties like Salted Caramel and Chocolate Peanut Butter.
