TACOMA, WA – In surprising news, Skateworld recently announced on its social media pages that it would be closing on March 31. According to the company, this was due to the inability to re-negotiate a lease renewal with the landlord. In a lengthy statement, Skateworld also announced that they would stay open as usual until their closure and operate as usual. This means that Tacoma residents will still have the chance to use the venue for the next couple of months until late March.
Specifically, the opening part of their statement said: ‘It is with a heavy heart that Skateworld Tacoma announces the unexpected closure of our current location on or around March 31, 2024. Despite our best efforts to secure a lease renewal, the abrupt decision was made by the landlord not to extend the lease, citing a desire to reclaim the space for the personal business venture of one of the property owners.’
At this point in time, it is not known what will be replacing Skateworld. Interestingly, Skateworld did hint at possible plans for a future location. However, due to the early stages of their current situation, it looks as though nothing has been planned at this stage.
Skateworld Tacoma is a beloved roller skating rink located in the heart of Tacoma. Founded in 2019, this lively venue has been a community staple for years, offering fun-filled skating sessions for people of all ages.
