MADISON, WI – A new Indian restaurant has just opened in Madison. Located at, Rajni offers a variety of Indian classics such as samosas, paneer tikka, madras, and Rogan Josh as well as desserts such as gulab jamun. These dishes range anywhere from $5-$20 depending on portion size and can be seen on the full menu here. Specifically, the restaurant is inspired by South Indian food and is strongly influenced by Hyderabad which is considered by many as the Indian food capital.
Despite having a quiet opening with little to no fanfare, Ranjni has so far opened to positive reviews. Currently, it is scored at 4.8/5 stars on Google across 38 reviews which hints towards an enjoyable experience. As well as serving tasty food, the authentic Indian experience continues with its decor which reflects a typical Indian restaurant, adorned with artwork and interiors from the region.
It’s also fair to say that although Madison’s population is now over 270,000 people, the city doesn’t have many Indian restaurants so this is a welcome addition to the local food scene. Located at 429 Commerce Dr, Rajni’s opens daily at 11:30 AM and serves lunch until 2:30 PM, and then re-opens at 5 PM until 9:30 PM thereafter. So far, it is still early days as far as Rajni is concerned but it looks as though this could become a staple for those who enjoy Indian food in Madison.
