Tikka Shack opens as Lancaster gains new Indian eatery

LANCASTER, PA – Last week, Tikka Shack officially opened its doors in Lancaster. Located at 35 N Queen St, Tikka Shack describes itself as ‘A casual modern Indian restaurant serving handcrafted curry bowls, fresh grilled kabobs, wraps, Biryani and more.’ And yes, this also includes vegan and vegetarian options which are a staple of Indian cuisine.

For those wondering, Tikka Shack is a rapidly growing fast-casual restaurant chain that specializes in authentic Indian cuisine. Founded in 2013 by Pramod Prodduturi and Bhoopal Reddy, the company has expanded to 14 locations across the United States. Because of this, it has often been compared to the Indian version of McDonald’s.

This means that, unlike the likes of Himalayan, Namaste, and Norbu, Tikka Shack offers a different dining experience that is based on a fast-casual approach rather than something more serious. While the aforementioned may offer competition to Tikka Shack, it means that the newly opened eatery may cater to a different kind of demographic within the Lancaster area.

The eatery’s opening hours are 11 AM – 9 PM every day aside from Tuesdays, when they open a little later at 1 PM. So far, it looks as though Tikka Shack has been well received by locals as it has achieved praise across various review sites.
