SAN JOSE, California – According to reports, representatives from Costco Saratoga were recently spotted at the Sunnyvale Costco, actively gathering signatures in support of a proposed new Costco location. Unlike the Santa Clara Costco, this will not feature a roundabout which is supposedly to improve the traffic flow in the car park.
It has been revealed that the plans for the new location involve complete removal of the former Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) building and the building that houses Bikram Yoga, Dominos Pizza, and the Sutter Health walk-in clinic, all to make way for additional parking spaces. Furthermore, the plans include an innovative design that will enable the creation of extra parking spaces on top of the Costco building, accessible via a parking ramp.
The area has already witnessed the closure of the Sutter Health walk-in clinic and the Smart & Final store, while the Goodwill store is also set to close soon. However, the neighboring businesses, including Trader Joe’s, Starbucks, Mod Pizza, Super Duper, and Taco Bell, are expected to remain operational as they are not part of the proposed redevelopment plan.
A representative from Costco Saratoga reportedly shared that the company has made several concessions to the neighborhood behind the proposed site, and with city approval, the new Costco location is anticipated to open its doors in 2026.
