ASTORIA, New York – According to the Instagram page We Heart Astoria, the popular vegan restaurant Jejube Tree is set to close within a matter of days. This was mentioned in a recent story where the page claimed to have it on good authority that the eatery would be permanently shutting down at the end of January.
As seen in the screenshot below, the account wrote: ‘Farewell Jujube? Gotta say, they had a great run! Sad news for our fellow Astorians, Jujube Tree owners told us that they’ll be closing at the end of this month!’ For fans of the venue, this news will undoubtedly come as a shock. The reason for this is that on the surface, the restaurant seemed to be thriving and has always been a popular spot among Astoria’s vegan food scene.
Originally opening in the same month of 2016, Jejube Tree is known for its Chinese vegan menu which includes tofu wraps, dumplings, and spring rolls. It also boasts a solid selection of wines and beers which takes place in a cozy and intimate setting.
Although Jejube has not yet confirmed the closure themselves, the news of its potential closure has since circulated on social media. Irrespective of whether We Love Astoria’s news is wrong or right, it looks as though Astoria residents will learn of its fate within the next couple of weeks one way or another.
