ASHEVILLE, North Carolina – One of the three remaining Asheville Family Dollar stores is set to close within the next few days. Located on Haywood Road, the store’s closure can be seen in the image below which shows the exterior plastered with ‘closing’ signs. According to these signs, the store will also be offering 50% off until its final day which will be on Saturday, January 20th. Despite this, Family Dollar’s other Asheville locations will remain open.
Despite being a staple in Asheville’s retail scene for years, the shop has recently symbolized a decline in the area and was known for attracting homeless beggars outside the entrance. However, its closure could usher in a new lease of life for the venue. At roughly one acre of land, it is a sizeable piece of real estate in a strategic area. However, the future of the site remains unknown.
