It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David P. Black, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, on February 23, 2024, at the age of 58. David was born on June 4, 1965, in Eugene, Oregon, to Kenneth W. and Shirley (Dixon) Black. He was a resident of Mount Vernon, Illinois, where he co-owned Mount Vernon Iron Works with his son and was an active member of the Rend Lake RC Club and a volunteer with the Jefferson County Fire Protection District.
David is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Angela (Henson) Black; his mother, Shirley Black; his son, David “Doc” Black and wife, Kristina; his daughter, Kelsey Black; his grandsons, Hayden Black and Ethan Weatherspoon; his brother, Richard Black and wife, Tami; his sister, Kendra Krisher and significant other, Bill; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth W. Black.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois, followed by a Funeral Service at 8:00 pm, officiated by Mr. Matthew Jenson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David’s honor to the Jefferson County Fire Protection District. David will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
