It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Doris J. Dennis, aged 85, a resident of Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Dennis peacefully departed on March 12, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. Born on January 15, 1939, in Ava, Illinois, she was lovingly adopted by the late Ray Hogan and Lillian (Prater) Hogan Jackmczak. Doris was joined in matrimony with Allison R. Dennis on July 14, 1958, in Madison, Illinois, who preceded her in death on June 27, 1998.
Mrs. Dennis leaves behind a cherished legacy in her children: Jacqueline Kash and her husband David, Jean Nadolski, Janice Tibbs, June Arnold, Joan Klutts and her husband Ron, Allen Dennis, and Anthony Dennis, all of whom reside in Mount Vernon. She was also blessed with twenty-four grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and two beloved sisters, Judy Simpson of Missouri and Nancy Foster of Georgia. Additionally, Mrs. Dennis shared an unbreakable bond with her best friend, Cheryl Page, of Mount Vernon.
In addition to the loss of her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by two granddaughters and her cherished siblings, Edna Pauline Shomaker, Paul Arnold, Dale Arnold, and Darrell Arnold.
Doris J. Dennis was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, and her absence will be profoundly felt by all those whose lives she touched. In accordance with her wishes, the family will not be holding public services at this time.
