Mt. Vernon woman passes away after fatal crash

(Mt Vernon, Il) A woman from Mt. Vernon has succumbed to injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle collision on Tuesday.

Thirty-one-year-old Aimee Bockhol was declared deceased at the scene of the accident, which occurred on northbound Illinois Route 37 near Old Salem Road and Radio Tower Road. According to reports, Bockhol crossed the centerline and collided with the rear of a southbound vehicle driven by 81-year-old Leroy Tucker from Madison, Illinois. Tucker’s vehicle spun in the roadway before coming to rest in the northbound lane, while Bockhol’s vehicle subsequently collided with a southbound semi-truck operated by 27-year-old Conner Kempf from Jasper, Indiana. Kempf’s semi-truck continued into a ditch before crossing both lanes of Illinois Route 37. Kempf and Tucker were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Illinois Route 37 was closed to traffic for nearly three hours to facilitate cleanup and an investigation by the Illinois State Police.
