As Kishwaukee College came together and celebrated the memories of those who fought and are continuing to fight, our main focus Thursday was the Vietnam War, presented by our own Jennifer Jossendal. There are 98 veterans attending Kishwaukee College this semester.

Some really cool facts about Veterans Day from :

  • In 1919, Woodrow Wilson named November 11th Armistice Day. Then in 1954, it was legally changed to Veterans Day.
  • Approximately 24 million veterans are alive today.
  • Approximately 400,000 members of the U.S. military were killed in World War II.
  • Thirty-five percent of veterans living today served in the Vietnam War.
  • In 2011, 8% of the United States military were women
