Remember when Kirk Gibson hit an iconic home run coming off the bench for the Los Angeles Dodgers back in 1988, with injuries to both legs? The guy that was limping around the bases doing a now-famous fist pump as he rounded second base? That was the last time the Los Angeles Dodgers had won a World Series title. It has been 29 years since that moment, and they are finally back and better than ever. Facing a highly talented Houston Astros team. For the Astros, it has been 55 years since they were named an organization. They have never won a championship, but came close back in 2005 against the Chicago White Sox.

Both teams are loaded with talent, and each have the capability of battling it out all the way to a game seven. Will we actually see a game seven this year? Let’s find out in this prediction of the 2017 World Series.

Note: These predictions were made on Monday, October 23.

Game 1: October 24, 7:00 PM CT

Houston at Los Angeles

Scheduled Starters: Dallas Keuchel vs. Clayton Kershaw

This should be a competitive game between two amazing left-handed pitchers. Both teams have no real World Series experience, so we should see a ton of adrenaline from the players during the first few innings of game one.

With that being said, I have the Dodgers winning the first game 5-3. Yasiel Puig hits a home run and Kershaw goes 6 innings strong.

Game 2: October 25, 7:00 PM CT

Houston at Los Angeles

Scheduled Starters: Justin Verlander vs. Rich Hill

The Houston Astros will come back after losing game one. Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve will pick up the pace and dominate Rich Hill early on. Justin Verlander will shut down the Dodgers and will go seven innings, giving up only one run.

The Houston Astros win 8-2, Correa hits a homerun, and Jose Altuve gets 4 RBIs.

Game 3: October 27, 7:00 PM CT

Los Angeles at Houston

Scheduled Starters: Yu Darvish vs. TBD (To Be Determined)

The series will be tied at 1-1 going into game 3. Lance McCullers should be the starter for Houston, but if he does not get the start, Charlie Morton will start. Either way, Los Angeles will come out swinging, and so will Houston. This will be a competitive game, and it might go to extra innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers win 3-2 with a home run in the late-innings by either Yasiel Puig or Justin Turner.

Game 4: October 28, 7:00 PM CT

Los Angeles at Houston

Starters TBD

The starters should be Dallas Keuchel and Clayton Kershaw (Same as game one). Both teams will provide a ton of offense in this game. It will be a high-scoring thriller back and forth until the later innings hit, and the Dodgers move deep into the bullpen.

The Los Angeles Dodgers win 9-6, and the bullpen for the Dodgers give up no hits from the 7th inning until the end (9th).

Game 5: October 29, 7:00 PM CT

Los Angeles at Houston

Starters TBD

Justin Verlander will likely pitch for Houston and he will have an impressive game, but he will give up some crucial hits late in the game. Rich Hill will likely pitch for the Dodgers and he will pitch his heart out.

The Los Angeles Dodgers win 2-1 and Yasiel Puig hits in a go-ahead run late in the game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers win the World Series in five games, and Yasiel Puig is named the World Series MVP.
