New Years Eve is a night of excitement. Little kids get to stay awake ‘til midnight, friends and families spend the night together celebrating and counting down to the New Year. Each family has its own traditions.

As we get older and more occupied with exams, papers, and projects, we like to search for something fun and exciting to do when we’re between semesters.  For those of us who are unsure how to celebrate 2016, or who want to try something new this time around, here are some ideas for this New Years:

  • Watch a movie. Most local theaters are nearly empty in the early evening on New Years Eve, which allows you to get really good seats.
  • Take a trip to Chicago with friends and family to celebrate the New Year.
  • Stay home and watch the ball drop.
  • Have a party, a “get together,” or a potluck with your closest friends and family.
  • Make New Year’s resolutions with friends.
  • Go to Navy Pier to watch the fireworks.
  • Got to the Brooke Field zoo with your family.
  • Stay up and watch the first sunrise of the new year.

No matter what you do or how you celebrate the New Year, we at the Kaleidoscope hope for it to be safe and memorable time!
